Speaker (concept)

As the market for smart speakers continues to boom, with sales predicted to exceed 400 million worldwide by 2025, designers and engineers are exploring ways to make these devices more sustainable. With this in mind, a Frolic Studio team has created a design tool that showcases four unique concepts for the same smart speaker, all of which use sustainable design principles.

Using circular economy strategies, the team sought to explore the diverse range of aesthetics and functionalities that can be achieved through sustainable design. By breaking down and unfolding the potential of the smart speaker, the team created four distinct concepts that each showcase the potential for circular design in this space.

The resulting concepts demonstrate the possibilities for designing smart speakers with a lighter impact on the planet. By considering the environmental impact of production and end-of-life disposal, these concepts offer a glimpse into a more sustainable future for this rapidly expanding market.

With this design tool, designers and engineers can explore the potential of circular design in smart speaker production, contributing to a more sustainable future for the tech industry as a whole.
