In the form of a score out of ten, this index is between 0 and 10. The closer the score is to 10, the more the product is identified as repairable and therefore durable. In store or online, the evaluation will be displayed near the price in order to be visible. A color code will reinforce this rating: from red (the lowest rating indicating that the product is good to throw away if it breaks down) to green (the highest rating for devices that are easy and inexpensive to repair) through orange (intermediate note for a possible but expensive repair).
This score is set according to three criteria: the clarity of the documentation intended for the user on the operation of the device; the degree of difficulty of disassembly and reassembly in the event of repair; and finally, the availability and prices of spare parts. "The longer the availability will be, the more we will be able to repair the device. It ranges from two years to fifteen years for products with the longest availability" , comments Régis Koenig, director of service policy within the Fnac group. -Darty. Also, in order to be part of this circular economy, this novelty should encourage manufacturers to improve the design of their products by choosing repairable and recyclable raw materials.
